You can catch the "Dale Princess" boat to Skomer Island from Martin’s Haven (2 miles up the road from the house).
 
Skomer is separated from the mainland by "Jacks Sound" - a turbulant and exciting sea crossing.  One may spend the day walking around the island or take a later boat trip around the island's shoreline.
 
The Island is a peaceful haven of birds, seals, dolphins, porpoises and other wildlife. 
 
Skomer has been designated a National Nature Reserve, A Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Protection Area.
 
The birds on the island include:

The Dale Princes departs daily from Martin's Haven at 10am, 11am and 12 noon (1st April - 31st October).  No booking is required - you queue on the landing jetty to board the boat (get there early at busy times).  There are no landings on Monday (except Bank Holidays). The boat trip charges are: Adults £8, Under 16 £6. In addition, a landing fee is payable on the Island: Adults £6, OAPs £5, Students £3, Children Free.  
 
The journey takes 15-20 minutes each way.  In times of adverse weather the crossings may be cancelled - To check, call Lockley Lodge (01646 636234), Dale Sailing (01646 603123) or the Dale Princess (07831 659623).
